When did you start doing CrossFit? October 26, 2015
Favorite WOD? Good question… I love any AMRAP that has 3 or 4 very different movements and you are racing the clock!
Least Favorite WOD? That’s easy… BURPEES!!
Favorite Lift? Shoulder Press
Least favorite lift? Front Squat!!
Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.). Married to Kerri McManus and we have 4 awesome kids. Emily, Caroline, Olivia, and Teddy. We moved to Georgetown in 2008, and we love this town. After being a husband and dad, I play mush ball in the summers, and coach little league each spring. Love watching the Pats, and Sox, and look forward to hanging out with friends and family.
What were you doing before you started CrossFit? Not much… made every excuse in the book not to exercise. This place has helped me to make new life goals, and find new ways to make those goals a priority. Each week Kerri and I spend time making sure that we both have time to make it to CF133 every day!
What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout? I felt incredible, yeah my legs and arms hurt, but I felt like a winner! After 100s of attempts of failing to get fit, I found a gym that uses its members to motivate and push you to your limits. Leaving you the desire to come back the next day
What were your goals when joining CrossFit? weight loss, get healthy. Develop a schedule that allowed me to attend class every day!
What goals are you currently working on? Pull ups!! And once I get it, on to hand stand push-ups!
Have you achieved any of those goals? Box jumps. Had to overcome a fear of falling on my face!
Has CrossFit affected your life outside the Gym? Yes, It’s inspired my wife to join, and has a big impact on how our 4 kids view the importance of eating right, and exercising.
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here? Fight Gone Bad! That was brutal. It was one of the hardest WOD’s I have ever done, and I completed it RX!
What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit 133? Join CrossFit 133 to meet new people, make new friends, and join a community that will to support and push everyone to be successful. The coaches and members will be the biggest reason you reach your fitness goals!
Something you might not know about me is? Dennis Floyd along with the CrossFit 133 team have truly inspired me to live a healthy lifestyle, and it’s extremely rewarding to push your body to its limit, and to help motivate others to do the same… so my two long range goals are… I want to run and finish the 2017 Boston Marathon!!
And maybe someday become a Level one CrossFit coach at 133, and join Dennis, Lou and Sam to inspire others to reach their fitness goals!
